Serial killer Gary Leon Ridgway was born on February 18, 1949, in Salt Lake City, Utah. He held a job painting trucks for 30 years, was married three times and had a son. Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, Ridgway is believed to have murdered at least 44 women near Seattle and Tacoma, Washington. He was eventually caught in 2001, when a DNA sample taken from Ridgway in 1987 was tested and matched samples taken from the victims. In an interview, Ridgway told investigators he killed as many as 75-80 women, most of whom were prostitutes or runaways. He was finally convicted in 2003 and received multiple life sentences.
